PJ JONES (born Patty Carlton) began singing at local talent shows on Radio & TV at the early age of 15.
After winning a major TV talent show, "Rocket to Stardom"..she formed one of the first "all Girl" country bands under the name of Patty Jones and the Country Cats, playing local country clubs, USO and Officer Clubs, etc. throughout California.
During the early 60's while involved in a weekly Television show in Odessa ,Texas, she released a single on Gateway Records called "I'm in a Hurry". She met Waylon Jennings and signed on for a tour with him as featured "female vocalist" throughout the midwest.
PJ continued writting songs for other artists while raising her 3 daughters and building a Real Estate career.
She returned to performing in 1984 with Bill Rhoads as the Country Duo "Kick Back Country" one of the West Coast's most popular country duo's; performing at County Fairs, Nevada Casinos and completing a four month tour of Alaska. They released an album of original songs "The Cowboy & the Lady" on the Roadgang label.
The 90's brought fun and excitement as she teamed up with talented daughter Lory Dobbs to form "Heart to Heart". Their blend of Traditional and New age country resulted in a unique blend "all their own". Lory played guitar and PJ played keys with the addition of a sequencer for drums & bass...giving them a "full band" sound..with the addition of their great vocals...they became a crowd pleaser on the "fair circuit" throughout California, Oregon and Nevada.. They entertained at Nevada Casinos and County Fairs in California and Oregon and released an album called "Audition".
In the last few years PJ has concentrated on her writting and in 2010' will release a very entertaining album of original tunes. One of the favorites is an "upbeat" humerous tune about "drag racers" called "Drag Racing 101". This is a "must have" for anyone who races or has ever been to a drag race!
Hard to believe this Senior Citizen still sings, writes songs, drives a fast
race car... and is still setting new records both on the track and in music.
